Since we issued our first medical liability insurance policy on November 1, 1975, NORCAL has grown from insuring a few hundred physicians in Northern California to being the largest medical liability insurer by number of insureds in California and Rhode Island, and the second largest in Alaska.Today, we insure nearly 13,000 physicians, medical groups, clinics, hospitals and ancillary healthcare facilities. We continually strive to remain true to our history and our values, and to maintain our singular focus on protecting our policyholders' careers and professional reputations while supporting the delivery of quality patient care.
